Absence Management - How to Call Out

Employees are expected to work their regular schedules.  If an absence is needed, employees must call out using their required leave time and provide sufficient notice to their supervisor through the call out procedure established for that employee classification. Employees must only use the leave time allotted to them under their employee agreements.

Teachers, Counselors, Social Workers, CSNs, Instructional Assistants, Personal Care Assistants, Interventionist Assistants, School Aides, Nurse Assistants, Registered Nurses and Licensed Practical Nurses: The Bensalem Township School District uses Aesop, an electronic call out system for these categories of staff.   The system is run by ESS (formerly Source4Teachers).

Unless notified by Human Resources, please use this system for all absences. Nurses should also follow the nursing department's call out procedures.  When putting in your absence please make sure that the “substitute needed” box is checked so that the system sends out notifications to substitutes.  Only in limited circumstances (for example, counselors, social workers) should the substitute not needed box be checked. The system allows substitutes to view absences and to enter themselves in as a substitute for a given absence that they are qualified to fill.

Call Human Resources (Ext. 4002) with questions or issues accessing this system.

Secretaries and Administrators (all Act 93) should contact their respective supervisor and also contact Human Resources (Melissa Bailey - Ext. 4006) to report an absence.  Please remember, vacation and personal time should be pre-planned and pre-approved by your supervisor.

Custodial/Maintenance:  must call out with advanced notice of at least 1 hour to (215) 750-2800 ext. 4300.
