Bensalem Education Foundation School Grants 2024-2025

The Foundation each year offers the opportunity for Principals and Assistant Principals of the nine schools to apply for school grants in the amount of $500.00 for projects that extend and enhance the school infrastructure, education tools or classroom experience through their implementation.  The projects must also enhance and enrich the goals and purposes of the Bensalem Education Foundation.
 

The Bensalem Education Foundation (BEF) recently awarded nine grants to schools across the Bensalem Township School District, totaling $4,335.  BEF is a 501(c)3 organization that relies on donations and supports the purpose of improving teaching and learning in Bensalem through innovative educational initiatives. Grants are awarded through an application process that occurs each year. These are the 2024-2025 projects that were funded.

 

Belmont Hills Elementary School – Principal Kelly McGowan

Awarded a grant for the purchase visual representations for their Character Strong program.  Character Strong is a school wide program that  it relationship focused  that is proactive in social and emotional learning plus character development.  The visual representations will provide a visual resource for students and allow them to put into cation the many strategies and experiences they have learned.

 

Cornwells Elementary School – Principal Dr. Shawn Mark

Awarded a grant to start a pottery club for students in 3rd - 6th grade with an interest in exploring this art medium at a deeper level. The supplies included tools, glazes, kiln equipment and clay.,

 

Faust Elementary School – Interim Principal Victoria Velazquez

Awarded a grant to provide rewards and incentives for the School-Wide Positive Behavior Support Program.  The program rewards and encourages students to demonstrate responsibility, respect and perseverance.

 

Rush Elementary School – Principal Joan Richey

Awarded a grant to purchase document cameras (5) and Apple Magic Trackpads (2) .  These trackpads are compatible with their computers and would allow them to use their computers and screens any place in the classroom.  It gives teachers the capability to move about their rooms to help and support students while still using technology, which enhances their lessons.

 

Struble Elementary School – Principal Lana Judy

Awarded a grant to purchase playground equipment for grades K-6.  The Student Council members created the list and will be responsible for preparing and sorting the equipment.  

 

Valley Elementary School – Principal Scott Pratt/Assistant Principal Fred Backhaus

Awarded a grant for the purchase of flexible seating for the Valley library.  Seating can be used by all students, and is an option that enhances comfort, focus and engagement.  Six wave seats were purchased.  Wave seating is also a great resource for students who are sensory challenged.  

 

Shafer Middle School – Principal Michael Stock/Assistant Principal Joseph Crane

Awarded a grant to provide an Epson EcoTank colored printer to be used in the library for special projects such as the 7th grade ELA Vision Boards, 8th grade Manifest Destiny Social Studies Projects, and others that would be enhanced with color printing.

 

Snyder Middle School – Principal Dr. Thomas Evert/Assistant Principal Steven Louella

Awarded a grant to provide an Epson EcoTank colored printer to be used in the library for special projects such as the 7th grade ELA Vision Boards, 8th grade Manifest Destiny Social Studies Projects, and others that would be enhanced with color printing.

 

Bensalem High School – Principal Geoffrey Per

Awarded a grant for the purchase of Motivational Word Art throughout the building.  Visually appealing decor increases school pride.  Funding was used to supplement what had already been raised for providing Hallway Wall Wrap and Under Stairwell Wall Wrap in multiple locations throughout the building.
