Federal Funds for Professional Development

Title IIA

Title IIA is the federal funding source for professional development.  An annual application must be completed to receive funding.  Title IIA funds support a variety of categories.  Some of these include the following: a percentage of the salaries and benefits for staff members in the Curriculum and Instruction Department; substitutes for teachers involved in professional development sessions; payment for staff members writing curriculum and performing duties as curriculum leaders; professional books and supplies; membership in our regional educational consortium (BCIU#22); and the services of educational consultants.
