Dear Bensalem Township School District Families,
It is with profound sadness that I share news of a tragic loss affecting a family within our Bensalem Township School District community. Over the weekend, Philadelphia Police Officer Seiber, a father of a child in our school community, lost his life in the line of duty.
Our hearts are heavy as we recognize the tremendous loss experienced by the Seiber family. The loss of a parent or loved one is devastating, and we know that this tragedy may bring feelings of sadness, uncertainty, and concern to members of our school community. We extend our deepest condolences to Officer Seiber’s family, loved ones, colleagues, his fellow officers, and the entire Philadelphia Police Department during this incredibly difficult time.
As a district, our priority is the well-being of our students, staff, and the Seiber family. Children process tragic news in different ways, and some may have questions or need additional reassurance and support. Our school counselors, administrators, and staff are available to provide support to students and staff as needed. We will approach these conversations with care, compassion, and sensitivity, while respecting the wishes of the Seiber family.
We encourage families to speak with their children in an age-appropriate way, listen to their questions and concerns, and reassure them that trusted adults are available to help. Tragedies such as this remind us how deeply connected we are as a community and how important it is to care for one another, particularly in moments of profound grief.
