Welcome to Cornwells Elementary School and the ELD (English Language Development) information page.  I will be working with students who are English Learners in grades K-6 and maintain this site with information for both students and parents.  If you have any questions, please contact me by calling the school or sending me an email through my home page using the link above.  Specific information about each class is found at Mrs. Fischer's web page.
At Cornwells, students that are identified as needing English Language Development receive 30 minutes of core instruction in my classroom each day.  Lessons follow district guidelines and come from the Pearson Longman series, Cornerstone.  All lessons are aligned with Pennsylvania core standards and include instruction in reading, writing, speaking and listening.  Classes are taught by grade level and include all levels of English proficiency.  Students come to my class during WIN (second chance learning) and do not miss core, classroom instruction.  Some students may be issued an English picture dictionary and workbook to practice at home.  I encourage all students to read as much as possible in the evening with their family to build language and vocabulary.
