I continue to be even more impressed with the students and staff in Bensalem and definitely have more appreciation for the community and its support for children and public education.

Last year, the Snyder SeaPerch Team secured their place to compete in the National Competition in Atlanta, GA after winning 3 trophies in the Greater Philadelphia SeaPerch Challenge. Thirteen Bensalem High School students competed in the DECA State Championships with 3 qualifying to attend and compete at the International Career Development Conference in Anaheim, CA. The BHS Fightin’ Robotics Owls are the second youngest Mid-Atlantic Team to win the Engineering Inspiration Award at a District Event. Their accomplishments throughout the season secured them a spot in the FIRST World Championships in St. Louis, MO. In wrestling, two Bensalem High School students received the honor of 1st Team All-State Academic. The boys had over a 4.0 GPA and above a .700 winning percentage on the mat this year. Two BHS football players were selected to the East-West Pennsylvania All-Star Football Game and two members of the BHS Track Team qualified for PIAA State Track and Field Championship, one in Shot Put and Discus and another in the 110 meter High Hurdles and High Jump.

Bensalem students spend many hours each week volunteering in our community to make it even better than it is. They demonstrate care and compassion for those in need in our community and throughout the world.

The high school renovation project finished on schedule and on budget. On Saturday, September 16th, we welcomed our community to the re-dedication ceremony and ribbon cutting, followed by an open house. Prior to the ceremony, guests listened to the sounds of the Bensalem High School Marching Band. Then the MCJROTC presented the colors and the Femineus Vocalis sang the National Anthem. Guest speakers included Mayor DiGirolamo, Senator Tomlinson, State Representative DiGirolamo, Congressman Fitzpatrick, BHS principal Mr. Ferrara and senior class president, Ezinwa Osuoha. The ribbon was cut and School Board president Mrs. Rivera invited all the guests into the magnificent new BHS. Special thanks to MCJROTC, Femineus Vocalis, Marching Band, Orchestra, Students, Faculty, Staff and the Facilities Team for helping to make the day a success.

I am pleased to announce that a Bensalem senior was named a Semi-Finalist in the National Merit Scholarship Program and two BHS seniors were named Commended Students.

I am proud of our school district, our students, and their accomplishments and am grateful for the opportunities provided to them by our exceptional staff and our wonderful community!
