Welcome to the 2016-17 school year. I continue to be even more impressed with the students and staff in Bensalem and definitely have more appreciation for the community and its support for children and public education.
Our students continue to excel in academics, the arts, athletics, and as citizens. Last year, the BHS Robotics Team, the Fightin’ Robotic Owls, competed at the FIRST Robotics Mid-Atlantic District Championship at Lehigh University where they finished 2nd out of 60 teams to qualify, attend, and compete at the FIRST Robotics World Championships in St. Louis, Missouri. Our DECA students attended and competed at the International Competition in Nashville, Tennessee, and a Speech and Debate Team member qualified to attend the 2016 Grand National Debate Tournament. Our fall sports teams are off to a great start with the BHS Owls breaking their 27 game losing streak with a win on September 2.
Bensalem students spend many hours each week volunteering in our community to make it even better than it is. They demonstrate care and compassion for those in need in our community and throughout the world.
The high school renovation project is on schedule and under budget. We are excited about the opportunity to marry our world class programs to our world class facility. Click here for more information on the project.
The Just for the Kids Education Foundation has been raising money for 20 years to fund special, innovative classroom projects in our nine schools. Their 20th anniversary celebration dinner will take place on Friday, October 14, 2016 at Twining Hall, 4900 E. Street Road, Trevose, PA. Click here for more information.
I am proud of our school district, our students, and their accomplishments and am grateful for the opportunities provided to them by our exceptional staff and our wonderful community!
