I am a certified Co-Op Teacher, a Temple University graduate, and a former Co-Op student myself. I believe every child should experience the world of work. It develops a sense of responsibility and independence. Children may also get the opportunity to explore fields of interest in which they may find after experiencing are no longer interesting or may become a career of choice.
Cooperative Education provides students with the opportunity to work in a community based business or organization under the supervision of the coordinator and the employer. Co-Op students are seniors who have completed their senior project and have enough credits towards graduation. Co-Op students are dismissed from school by 11:30 to go to work.
Co-Op Students receive 2 credits, work at least 15 hours a week, receive job placement assistance in positions related to their interests and take a class that teaches them about career planning, employment retention, communication, business ethics, and more....
